Background and Specialties

As a kid growing up my parents were both schoolteachers, but also for us kids, life teachers. My dad, a Nebraskan farm kid, was always working on a project, house additions, apartment building makeovers, he seemed to be able to build/fix anything, and my role, as his “assistant” was to step and fetch. During those times, can’t say that I always loved it, I watched, I observed, and I learned.

As I started my own adult journey, I found myself in the world of retail, I was chomping at the bit to get my own house and start applying all of those valuable skills learned from watching my dad. In the world of retail, relocation is a key factor in moving up the corporate ladder, and about every two years I moved to a new place, along with that came a new house to “work” on.

I found I had a knack for being able to visualize potential and possibilities when looking at houses, and I found that all of the childhood stepping and fetching paid off, I was able to turn that idea, those visions, into reality. My dad was always about doing it right the first time and was always up to speed on the current codes and processes, a trait that was invaluable as I relocated every couple of years and could with confidence pass on a house that would pass any inspection or code requirements.
